RMTG got its start through elite military training. Founding member Clay Lassiter was conducting winter warfare training at Snowbird in 2013 and saw that he was quickly running out of ground and training areas for elite warriors.
"Once our guys got trained, I realized we quickly needed to get into the backcountry because that's where we operate," said Lassiter. "We spent two more years perfecting our offerings, took client wishlists for future experiences and started exploring new territory. Southwest Wyoming is ripe for advanced outdoor excursions."
The team continued getting deeper into the Uinta mountains. In 2015, Lassiter met Ted Kimbell from RnK Hunting. Together they started to develop winter warfare and pack-out scenarios deep in the mountains. More highly developed training scenarios were also designed to include shooting operations, long range winter mobility operations and explosive work.
In 2023, additional RMTG business partners Larry Frost, Peter Susi and Travis Twining came together to grow the partnership and invest into the company. A uniquely forged friendship for nine years conducting operations at Queen Mountain Lodge allowed Lassiter, following a successful 30 year-career in the military, to form Rocky Mountain Tactical Group and expand offerings to the public.
In 2024, RMTG seeks to grow its footprint in Wyoming with the future expansion of lodging offerings and infrastructure operations to include the Pine Knoll region.
